SUBJECT ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP AT DPSGM
The DPSG society in collaboration with TeacherSity organized a subject enrichment workshop for PGTs, TGTs and PRTs. The workshop was initiated on 20th May, 2017 and culminated on 25th May, 2017. It was indeed a very beneficial and fruitful session for all concerned.
While the Montessori teachers were taught the nitty-gritties of learning by doing and the play-way method, the primary wing teachers were made to delve deep into the activity based teaching methodology. The teachers of the secondary wing also picked up various inputs about how to make teaching learning more effective by the use of myriad strategies.
The teachers of the senior secondary wing picked up valuable tips on how to improve class room transactions. While the English teachers were empowered with the techniques to improve LSRW (listening, speaking, reading and writing), the newspaper was also emphasized upon as an effective tool to devise activities that would lead to clarification of concepts.
The commerce department benefited immensely by broadening the horizon of their subject knowledge and apart from theory, practicals related to business studies, accountancy and economics of class XII was discussed in considerable detail with factory visits and visits to the mall to sharpen various pedagogical insights.
The mathematics teachers revisited the strategies of learning by doing, concept building methods, use of models, linking maths with real life experiences to enhance the teaching learning process.
The teachers of the computer department enriched themselves about cyber security processes, preventive measures, security tools and cyber hygiene. They gained inputs about how to ensure that the students would be safe surfers. Teachers also got a chance to get a hands-on experience in mobile App Development.
Likewise the physics and chemistry teachers enlightened themselves with the latest project based learning methodology to sharpen the acumen of the science students and to develop a spirit of enquiry and scientific temper.
Dr. Neel, the renowned psychologist spearheaded the session for the last day when he talked about the importance of building relationships, trusting the stakeholders and thereby creating a congenial atmosphere for learning.
Overall it was a very enlightening stint with the thrust on skill enhancement and capacity building pertaining to teachers.
